Shadowgrass

Bluegrass quintet Shadowgrass was founded in 2014 by three friends from the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia: Clay Russell, Luke Morris and Kyser George. They won 2nd place at the 2014 Grayson County Fiddler’s Convention as a bluegrass quintet and we couldn’t look away from these friends of ours as they performed a few songs together as a quintet. We have been astonished by the incredible following they have developed due to their exceptional musicianship – their incredible picking and harmonies transport you away to the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia. We have showcased their songs “Creatures of Havoc”, “Mr. Charlie”, “On and On”, “John Hardy” and a wonderful version of “You’ll Never Leave Harlan Alive”. Their 2024 release “All That Will” is an outstanding example of their development and artistry as bluegrass musicians while still remaining true to the roots of traditional bluegrass. The album features their unique covers of Elton John’s “Rich Girl” and the Piano version of “Slow Dancing in a Burning Room” by Coldplay as well as some of their original compositions such as “Carl’s Breakdown” and “Brushy Mountain Pen”. With each of the members of the group having received numerous awards and accolades for their individual and group accomplishments – they are truly ambassadors of bluegrass music and are introducing the genre to a new younger generation of bluegrass fans.
